摘要
The influence of TiB2 particles on the microstructure and properties of cast Al-5Cu-0.3Mg-0.1Ag alloy is investigated in this study using techniques such as optical microscopy (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), mechanical property testing, and mathematical calculations. It has been observed that the addition of a small amount of TiB2 particles significantly enhances the mechanical properties of the cast alloy (maximum strength increased from 185.27 MPa to 276.1 MPa). Additionally, a small amount of Ag was detected at the Al/TiB2 interface. The distribution of particles within the matrix plays a crucial role in determining the microstructure and properties of the alloy, which is primarily influenced by particle size and supersaturation. Among various strengthening mechanisms resulting from particle addition, thermal mismatch strengthening and grain-refinement strengthening exhibit more pronounced effects (13.95 MPa and 3.49 MPa, respectively).
