摘要
This The demand of electrical energy in Saudi Arabia is steadily growing with the economic growth, more power plants should be installed to boost the capacity of generation and cover demand. Electricity in Saudi Arabia is mainly dependent on fossil fuel which raise a major concern of depleting the natural resources and increase CO2 emission. In this paper, a technical analysis was conducted to evaluate the performance of installing a micro-grid system which consists of hybrid PV/Wind power sources and integrated to the grid network with a capacity of 7.0 KW installed at the roof of the engineering building in the Islamic university of Madinah. The PV system consists of 60 cells mono-crystalline solar panels with maximum power of 340 W_p at the standard test conditions (STC) and 18.33% efficiency. The PV modules arranged into two parallel strings of five modules. The proposed control approach consists of MPPT and PI algorithms. All of the power flow, MPPT efficiency, and total harmonic distortion (THD) results are analyzed by MATLAB/Simulink environment. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy, various simulation studies have been carried out under varying irradiation conditions. The fast and high control capability of the model predictive control allowed an effective tracking under varying irradiation conditions. Simulation analysis was carried out using Homer, and the efficiency analysis has been performed for the power and control structures through which it reached 90% as well as for the inverter.
