Optical, scintillation, and dosimetric properties of undoped and Mn-doped MgGa2O4 single crystals

摘要
Optical, scintillation, and thermally and optically stimulated luminescence (TSL and OSL) properties of the undoped and Mn-doped MgGa2O4 single crystals were investigated. All the crystals showed a luminescence peak at 500 nm caused by the 3d-3d transitions of Mn2+. The 0.03 %-Mn-doped crystal exhibited the highest OSL intensity, whereas the 0.3 %-Mn-doped crystal exhibited the highest photoluminescence quantum yield and scintillation intensity. There was an inverse relationship between the scintillation and OSL intensity in the 0.03-0.3 % Mn-doped crystals. The results indicated that the 0.03 % Mn-doped crystal exhibits the highest efficiency during carrier trapping. In the OSL dose response functions, the lower detection limit of the 0.03 % Mndoped crystal was 0.01 mGy, which was comparable with that of a commercial product.
