摘要
Climate change is one of the most important environmental problems of our century. Consequently, the biggest indicator of this problem is global warming. Environmental sustainability is an approach that includes strategies to find a solution to this problem. The circular economy is one of these strategies and circular economy applications in our country in the field of environmental engineering is newly started. In this study, examples of circular economy applications in environmental engineering are presented. This is done to examine solid waste management practices and approaches in Istanbul. The Istanbul Environmental Management Inc. (ISTAC) of Istanbul is taken as the sample study, and the circular assessment is applied to the process. The industrial symbiosis, which is one of the important parameters of the circular economy assessment, could be an improvement. This can be counted as one the most important findings of the studyc On the other hand, it is seen that in the preliminary survey results that the concept of the circular economy has not been understood well and this concept has not applied adequately in the solid waste management projects. As a result, the points of how the concepts of the circular economy can be integrated into these solid waste management projects are presented in the study, respectively.
