Green synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles using Aloe Vera extract as catalyst support material and studies of their catalytic activity in dehydrogenation of Ethylenediamine Bisborane

摘要
This study investigated the effect of Titanium dioxide (TiO2) synthesized using the method of green synthesis and the chemical (titanium (IV) ethoxide sol-gel technique) which was previously our work on the Ethylenediamine Bisborane (EDAB) hydrolysis process. Nanocomposites based on TiO2 doped with Palladium (Pd) were synthesized by green synthesis using the Aloe Vera plant as the starting materials. The investigation of the structure and surface morphology of the plant mediated Pd/TiO2-green catalyst was evaluated using X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), scanning Electron microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectrum (EDS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometry (XPS), Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) analyzes. The effect of catalyst on EDAB was examined at five different temperatures (20 degrees C-80 degrees C), two different amounts of catalyst (0.08, 0.16 g) and in the different volumes of the reactor. For the comparison of catalyst preparation methods, the hydrogen gas release (HGR) for the hydrolysis of the EDAB using Pd/TiO2-green and Pd/TiO2-sol_gel (60 degrees C, 28.5 mM EDAB, 0.05 g catalyst) catalysts were determined as 360 ml min(-1).g(-1) and 78.48 ml min(-1).g(-1) respectively. The hydrolysis study shows the green synthesis Pd/TiO2 displays a higher HGR efficiency compared to chemically synthesized Pd/TiO2.
