摘要
The intra and peri-domiciliary presence of Panstrongylus geniculatus bugs, naturally infected with Trypanosoma cruzi, is reported for the first time in El Portachuelo at 1650 masl (Ejido, M??rida State, Venezuela). The ecological importance of the present finding is raised, which add up to recent reports of outbreaks of Chagas disease in the state of Merida. We discuss how local anthropic and global climatic factors could be correlated with triatomine infestation in emerging epidemiological scenarios in rural localities in process of urbanization.
