摘要
Interprofessional teams improve patient outcomes and job satisfaction, yet placing health care professionals together does not produce effective collaboration. A qualitative study was conducted to evaluate the success and challenges of an interprofessional nurse practitioner (NP) residency. Key stakeholders were interviewed to determine the perceived success and challenges of an interprofessional-based NP residency. Qualitative thematic content analysis revealed 6 themes, including a high level of satisfaction among key stakeholders. Results suggested formal interprofessional training/interprofessional team-based care is effective and leads to improved relationships; however, because of perceptions of hierarchy and role confusion, interprofessional education may have to span longer than the current 1-year postgraduate NP residency.
