This review highlights the considerable amount of knowledge and resources available about the diagnosis, pathophysiology, and management of asthma. We recognize there are other features to asthma such as the impact of genetic mechanisms, microbial dysbiosis, air quality, and climate change that are not thoroughly covered here, and their role in asthma development may inform future individualized asthma therapies.13-16,97 13-16,97 Most importantly, ongoing efforts to address the social determinants that lead to health disparities are critical to improving longevity, quality of life, and the economic burden related to asthma.
