摘要：

The aim of this work was to present an overview on the biochemical significance of the matrix gamma -carboxyglutamate (Gla) protein (MGP). According to the literature, the MGP is associated with vascular, bone, and kidney metabolisms, as well asvitamin K levels. The relationship of MGP to Keutel's syndrome, Pseudoxanthoma elasticum, colitis, and dental calculus is described. The information published so far suggests that MGP protein levels could have potential as a biochemical marker in these serious diseases.
