Background:People with intellectual development disorders often developdissociative seizures. Psychotherapists are frequently uncertain about how to treatthese clients. Objective/material and methods:The aim is to describe the procedure with specialinstructions for adaptation of the treatment in people with intellectual developmentdisorders. Results and conclusion:The treatment of dissociative seizures in people withintellectual development disorders should basically be the same as the procedure forpeople with normal intelligence. The necessary adaptations are easy to implementwith a little practice. Rethinking the care of mentally ill people with intellectualdevelopment disorders is therefore urgently needed and desirable.
