摘要
Midwives are the key service providers of care and support for mothers and newborns in the patient care units in Ethiopia. However, these midwives have received little research attention in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine job satisfaction and the associated factors among midwives in southwest Ethiopia. Objective This study aimed to determine job satisfaction and associated factors among midwives, in Southwest Ethiopia/2022. Methods and Materials An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted among midwives. Data were entered into Epi-data 4.4.2.1 edited, coded, and categorized. Bivariate logistic regression analyses at a significance level of 0.25 and multivariate logistic regression analyses at a significance level of 0.05 were conducted to determine the associated factors. Results In this study, less than half, 46.28 % (95%CI: 37.52 -55.28) of midwives were satisfied with their current job. Performance of midwives (AOR = 5.64 (95%CI: 1.70 -18.69), alternative job opportunities (AOR = 0.18 (95%CI: 0.05-0.65)), and teamwork ((AOR=0.18 (95%CI: 0.05-0.65)) were independently associated with midwives' job satisfaction. Conclusions Job satisfaction among midwives in this study was considerably lower than that reported in other studies. The performance of midwives, an alternative job opportunity, and teamwork were independently associated with midwives' job satisfaction. Therefore, healthcare leaders and other stakeholders should pay attention to midwives' job satisfaction and support teamwork and their performance in public healthcare institutions.
