The Possibilities and Risks of Traditional and Non-Traditional Spirituality in Cyberspace

In traditional religions, cyberspace is used for information sharing, education, or the transmission of religious services, but it also often becomes a space for non-traditional forms of religion and spirituality. In this paper, the author explores the possibilities, risks and limits of traditional and non-traditional spirituality in cyberspace. According to the author, a certain degree of adaptation of traditional spirituality in cyberspace is inevitable, but it has its limits, represented by the human body and the consequent physical proximity of the community of believers. Non-traditional spirituality is manifested mainly in digital games such as World of Warcraft and others. According to the author, it may be a certain saturation of the religious needs of a postmodern and secularized person, but not a full-fledged and authentic spirituality, because here again the body and physical proximity of the other person are absent.
