摘要
Globally, all the utilities are going through a process of Energy Transition with the motto of "Greening of Power". Higher renewable penetration and Net Zero targets are increasingly taking precedence in power sector planning. Small islanded system is vulnerable to major stability risks due to the higher penetration of Variable Renewable Energy (vRE) resources. This paper presents a case study highlighting challenges with higher vRE penetration in system, sizing of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for different applications and evaluates system from the economic perspective and system benefits associated with BESS for a small islanded system.
