摘要
Formation control algorithms are a prominent area of study in the domain of drones and drone swarms. The goal of the formation control algorithms is to manage and manipulate individuals to achieve the group objectives. Researchers suggested algorithms that can solve this problem in different settings and pre-conditions. This review will categorize those algorithms and discuss their features with recent advancements. Then, the discussion focused on the single point of failure crisis, specifically on the leader-follower drone swarms, by elaborating on the recent advancements in the specific problem. Finally, the review will conclude by pointing out further areas to be investigated as future research to step up the state of the art of drone swarms and formation control algorithms.
