摘要
The paper attempts to explore the issue of convergence in technology across the Indian states. Total factor productivity for each Indian state has been calculated from the Solow residual during the time period 1994-1995 to 2019-2020 so as to measure technological progress of Indian states. The regression results envisage convergence of Indian states in terms of technology during the post-reform period. This convergence in technology explains the process of technological diffusion. India adopted technology from the existing universal frontier. States with low levels of technological progress will absorb more technology from the existing universal frontier, and states with high levels of technological progress will absorb less technology.
