Stress and Emotional Intelligence in university students: Return to face-to-face class

摘要
Introduction: Among the mental health problems suffered by students are depression, anxiety and the most prominent is stress, the latter has been increasing, which is reflected in different studies. Stress is related to several variables, and one of them to consider is emotional intelligence. Objective: Our general objective from our investigation was to analyze the relationship between stress and emotional intelligence in university students from Coquimbo, Chile. Method: We had 204 university students, we applied them a sociodemographic questionnaire and the TMMS-24 and PSS-14 scales. They were performed analysis, Spearman correlation, linear regression, Mann Whitney U test and ANOVA. Results: The results showed the existence of significant relationships, adding that the IE showed a 16% of the stress variance. In addition to that inside of the analysis there wasn't a significant relationship and influence from the stress variance in the sociodemographic variables. Conclusions: Therefore, it's concluded that the emotional intelligence it's a factor that influences the stress, where we can say that more comprehension and emotional regulation less it's the stress perceived.
