Perovskite composite material coated with polydopamine for adsorption of heavy metal ions

摘要
In recent years, increased environmental pollution has become a major societal concern, since quite a few people experienced various diseases caused by heavy metal ion pollution. Rare earth oxide perovskite based adsorbents have been applied in heavy metal ions removal on account of a special affinity. However, perovskite tending to agglomeration promoted an urgent and necessary search for protective agents. Here, the rare earth oxide perovskite PDA@LaCo0.35Ni0.65O3 was synthesized by introducing PDA onto LaCo0.35Ni0.65O3 structure via hydrothermal method. The PDA providing with large specific surface area and oxygen-containing functional groups can enhance the adsorption capacity of nanomaterials for heavy metal ions in water. The as-obtained PDA@LaCo0.35Ni0.65O3 displayed maximum adsorption capacity of 142.49 mg.g(-1), 96.30 mg.g(-1), 105.12 mg.g(-1) for Cu2+, Hg2+, Pb2+. The proposed PDA@LaCo0.35Ni0.65O3 enabled to achieve excellent removal rates toward three heavy metal ions. This work brings new opportunities for sorbents innovation in the field of sewage treatment.
