摘要
In this short workshop paper, I discuss my research and teaching practices around the topic of games, ethics, compassion, and eudaimonia. For instance, I discuss my book, We the Gamers, which analyzes how games support players in developing the skills and attitudes that support flourishing and Utu. These concepts are similar to eudaimonia, in that they marry well-being with purpose. I also talk about the social-impact games I have designed, which also combine knowledge and learning with moral wisdom, compassion, and care. Finally, I discuss various research studies I have conducted on identity expression, empathy, and the process of game design. I consider, for instance, whether engaging in the design practice itself might contribute to a feeling of eudaimonia.
