Happiness and reason for living as discursive formations of the discourse of love in songs

In this article we analyze the discourse of love, as discussed by Orlandi (1990), in songs in Portuguese and in English languages, taking from the notion-concept of discursive formation (Pecheux, 1997), associated with the notion-concept of scenography (Maingueneau, 2008). Taking the theoretical and methodological directions of French Discourse Analysis as guidelines, the research work outlined in this article highlights the linguistic and enunciative regularities of the discursive formations of love as a reason for happiness and love as a reason for living. As a result of the analysis, we came to the conclusion that such discursive formations are presented in the texts as complementary to each other, without any trace of opposition or contrast that distances them, in a relation of addition and complementation of their marks of regularity.
