摘要
Aquaculture production is increasing in the last decades. In this context, finding strategies to reduce environmental impacts and operating costs is essential. Oxygen is an essential production factor in land-based aquaculture and its consumption should be optimized to reduce also electricity costs associated. An integrated monitoring and control system for oxygen distribution in land-based aquaculture facility is presented in this manuscript, with a particular emphasis on economic savings associated. If compared with a continuous supply of oxygen the oxygen and electricity saving is around 60 % that determine an annual economic saving of approx. 4500 (sic) per tank, which means an overall economic saving of roughly 300,000 (sic) per year. In conclusion, by optimizing the oxygen distribution while maintaining optimal conditions for fish growth and welfare, it is possible to reduce the operating costs and the environmental impact of the aquaculture farm.
