Soft tissue sarcomas of the trunk and extremities are a heterogeneous group of low -incidence pathologies worldwide in which surgery constitutes the mainstay of treatment. However, local and distant disease recurrence rates are high when surgical management is performed without other treatments. Thus, complementary therapies have been proposed, with limited evidence of their efficacy. Taking this into account, a literature review was conducted to synthesize the available evidence on the use of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in this pathology by the Functional Unit for Breast and Soft Tissue Tumors, the Clinical Oncology Unit, and the Radiation Oncology Group of the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia (INC) (Bogota, Colombia), achieving a consensus on indications for the use of neoadjuvant and adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with soft tissue sarcomas of the trunk and extremities at the INC.
