摘要
There is a Standard Analytical Approach (SAA) to history of medieval philosophy. SAA has the advantage of engaging with the philosophical arguments and it tries to avoid anachronism but in fact SAA falls into anachronism by its failure to replace analyses into their wider context. Despite a recent multicultural turn, SAA fails to embrace the chronological and geographical range of the medieval Western tradition, and its breadth of approaches. This article sets out these problems and how they might be overcome.
