摘要
The membrane, a core element in pervaporation technology, is of utmost importance for its advancement. Membrane modification is one of the most effective means of achieving an efficient membrane, which is crucial for the progress of this technology. High selectivity and flux can be achieved by modifying the membrane or membrane polymer by changing properties such as the surface energy, surface roughness, arrangement of polymer chains, and polymer network. Hence, recent publications on various methods for modifying polymeric membranes in the context of pervaporation applications are meticulously summarized and categorized, and aging and fouling factors have been mentioned in this review. This evaluation provided a thorough summary of the benefits and drawbacks of each method. Among the numerous techniques, mixing, crosslinking, and surface modification are commonly employed to modify polymeric membranes specifically tailored for pervaporation processes.
