Durable superhydrophobic insulating coatings for prevention of wet flashover and icing in power system

摘要
Polymer coatings (PC) have been widely used for electrical equipment. However, the hydrophobicity of PC is generally low, which falls short of the need for electrical equipment against safe operation. Here, we report a scalable PC based on a SIS grafted KH590 by click chemistry reaction, and in-situ synthesized SiO2 filled the coatings with intrinsic micro-nano structures to attain the superhydrophobicity, which are exhibit insulating property (Eb of 110.9 MV/m, wet flashover strength of 39.5 % higher). Both simulation and experimental results confirm that SIS grafted KH590 and TEOS hydrolyzed SiO2 form dense but rough surface at the micronnanoscale, decreasing surface energy. In combining the advantages of extraordinary insulating performance, this approach is viable for large-scale production of PC.
