A perspective of the education in Spain: From useful teaching to professional training. 18th and 19th centuries

: The following pages offer an overview of education in Spain from the perspective of programmatic approaches in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the first, we witness the beginning of the State's involvement in the education of the greatest possible number of citizens, with the goal of the country's economic regeneration; in the second, general laws that contemplate a universal and free primary education, differentiated by sexes, which is then passed on to the upper strata of society at the secondary and higher levels. They also provide an analysis of some concrete achievements in the field of vocational training in a provincial city, Le & oacute;n, which can be an example of the attention paid to this educational area in many parts of the country.
