Pelvic trauma remains a unique challenge for clinicians, particularly in complex, multisystem trauma patients that present with hemodynamic instability. A multidisciplinary approach to treatment of pelvic trauma and hemorrhage is required for optimal patient care. While each trauma center will adapt their protocol for treatment based upon local resources and clinician expertise, familiarity with the techniques of pelvic binding, REBOA, EF, PPP, and AE is paramount.29 Each of these may be utilized based upon patient presentation, injury mechanism, admission physiology, and resources.
