摘要
Given that sexuality forms part of each individual, the knowledge that people can acquire about it during adolescence is of vital importance throughout life both in making responsible decisions and in healthy and pleasant enjoyment. Therefore, the objective of this research consists of inquiring about the knowledge of sexuality, obtained by the students of General Studies of the University of Costa Rica, West Campus, which have been addressed in secondary education in a formative way through the Integral Affectivity and Sexuality Program which is part of the subject of science and later of psychology of the Ministry of Public Education. Regarding the approach for this research, the author used a quantitative one. Moreover, aiming to collect information, a questionnaire consisting of Likert scales was applied and had the participation of 171 individuals from a total population of 600 people, which corresponds to the total student body. The results indicate that there is confusion in basic terminology, as well as a lack of knowledge about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and contraceptive methods. Hence, the researcher concludes that there is a priority in avoiding pregnancy, but the consequences of an STI are not considered. Likewise, it is essential to continue addressing these issues in tertiary education, as well as in different spaces that adolescents share.
