Cloud computing provides a suitable platform for the application of big data in IoT. With the promotion of cloud platforms; big data in data intensive applications has rapidly developed in various fields and embodies unusual values on scientific research and economic benefits. Firstly; this paper introduces the concept of big data and cloud computing; and the main characteristics of big data are described in 6V mode. Subsequently; we focus on the main processes of big data; such as data acquisition; data organization and management; data analysis; and data presentation. Then; based on the architecture of could computing; some commonly used big data frameworks and their characteristics are described. Finally; application technologies of big data under cloud computing are introduced in some aspects; i.e; file system; data storage; data processing; analysis; and visualization. And the challenges for the future development of big data are discussed in the end. © International Association of Engineers;
