The safety barriers are a key element in improving Road Safety, especially in the case of exits from the road . Instead, traditionally, barriers have been one of the least inspected elements due to a lack of resources, tools and budget. The Computer Vision has become the most reliable and cost-effective technology for asset monitoring on the road, far exceeding the limitations of human vision. In addition, its low cost allows it to be used on roads with limited budgets for inspection and maintenance. With all this, its use represents a small revolution for the 8,200 infrastructure managers in Spain. The managers now have the ability to expertly monitor streets and highways at a much lower cost than human resources, with homogeneous criteria decided by experts and with the ability to save evidence of the entire process. © 2023 Asociacion Espanola de la Carretera.
