In view of the low reliability, high false alarm rate and hidden troubles of the existing auto-flaw detection equipment, which was difficult to meet the needs of the development and construction planning of high-speed railway engineering technology, a new type of rail ultrasonic flaw detection system was proposed. A high-speed recording multi-channel digital flaw detector was developed for real-time acquisition of full waveform data under high-speed rail detection conditions, and the phased array ultrasonic system was used to detect rail welded joints. The effectiveness of the system was verified by experiments.The research results show that the system may collect flaw detection data in high-speed, realize flaw detection, record and intelligent data analysis in real-time. © 2019, China Mechanical Engineering Magazine Office.
