New Hybrid Filter for Wideband and Better Attenuation Using BAW and IPD Technology

摘要
This paper introduces a novel hybrid High-Pass Filter (HPF) design that combines Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) resonator technology with Integrated Passive Device (IPD) technology. While the HPF with IPD resonator exhibits a transmission zero, it is limited by a lack of roll-off responses at the 2469 MHz range. In contrast, our proposed Hybrid Filter, which incorporates both BAW and IPD components, demonstrates superior attenuation performance and boasts an impressive 900 MHz wide-passband. To validate this theory, we conducted fabrication and 3D simulation on the proposed IPD-only filter and the HPF with both IPD and BAW technologies. Notably, the results reveal that the HPF with BAW technology achieves a remarkable 5 dB improvement in attenuation compared to the IPD-only filter.
