To analyze the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete(RC)short columns under acid rain environment,four RC short column specimens with shear span ratio of 2.84 were used as objects. First,artificial climate environment tests were conducted on the specimens. Then,pseudo-static tests were performed. The damage characteristics of the specimens were observed,and the effect of corrosion level on the seismic behavior of the specimens was analyzed. The test results show that the corroded specimens exhibit obvious visual damage. All four specimens are dominated by flexural-shear failures under low reversed cyclic loads. With the increase of the corrosion level,the oblique cracks of the specimens expand rapidly,and the shear failure characteristics become obvious when the specimens are destroyed. Meanwhile,the load-carrying,deformation,and energy dissipation capacities continuously decrease. Hence,acid rain has a significant influence on the seismic behavior of an RC short column. On the basis of the influence of concrete cube compressive strength and longitudinal reinforcement corrosion ratio,a calculation model for the peak load correction coefficient of an RC short column that accounts for the influence of acid rain is established using multiparameter fitting. © 2021, Editorial Board of Journal of Tianjin University(Science and Technology).
