A Concept of Determining Operation Sequences by Using Artificial Neural Networks. To determine operation sequences within process planning know-how from skilled employees and other resources like documents, guidelines, and process plans from similar products are used. Therefore, established process plans contain implicit knowledge. Extracting and using this implicit knowledge offers the Potenzial to speed up the task of operation sequencing during the preparation of the process plan. For such tasks, artificial neural networks from the field of Deep Learning can be used to capture the implicit knowledge by training and make use of it by applying the networks for prediction. Therefore, a concept will be introduced for determining operation sequences by using artificial neural networks. © 2021 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston, Germany.
