Extraction method of weak fault information based on variational mode decomposition

In view of the difficulty in extracting fault sensitive features from non-linear non-stationary dynamic signals, a variational mode decomposition(VMD) combining wavelet vibration signal processing method was proposed.First, the signals were decomposed by VMD, then the improved wavelet method was used to process the components, and finally the processed components were reconstructed.The VMD-improved wavelet signal processing method was used to analyze the third stage planetary gear wear vibration signal processing.Results show that the proposed VMD-improved wavelet method can effectively reduce the noise interference and highlight the weak fault information.The proposed method was compared with VMD, EEMD, EMD combined with improved wavelet, modulus square threshold wavelet, hard threshold wavelet, and soft threshold wavelet respectively, the kurtosis, signal to noise ratio and root mean square error error are calculated, results show that the accuracy of the proposed method is higher. © 2020, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
