摘要
Shot peening is used in various branches of mechanical engineering to increase component strength. Today, the specification of strengthening is often deter-mined with iterative tests. This first part of the publication, ‚Simulation Model and Residual Stress Field‘, presents an economic simulation based on a novel cell periodicity. This allows process-relevant parameters to be predicted and, as a result, the residual stress measurement to be dispensed with. Furthermore, the inhomogeneity of the residual stress field, which is only rarely discussed in the literature, is examined more closely. In the second part of the publication, ‘Applications’, measurement data on Almen samples available in the writings are used for validation. In addition, the benefits of shot peening is examined using the example of fretting fatigue, which is difficult to control, with an integrative simulation. © 2019, VDI Fachmedien GmBbH & Co.
