摘要
The article examines the historical construction of the Order of Carmel. We analyse its own sources from 13th to 18th centuries and the different inflection points in the Order are set to explain the reason for the first legends, the success they had and their discredit in the future centuries. The article covers the European geographic area, prioritizing the Hispanic sources, and follows a strict chronological order as a response to each idea, the character that emerges from them and how and why forged the particular charism of the Order in communion with the European culture in each period.
