A review of the current state of continuous improvement in achieving advanced quality management in nigeria

High-quality standards have been acclaimed to be a sure means of boosting economic growth and raising the standards of businesses and organizations. The Nigerian economy has been plagued with sub-standard products. This has posed a great problem to the government, regulatory institutions, customers, and the entire nation. Adopting and implementing a quality management system will help to increase productivity and set the Nation on the right course of growth. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) give world-class specifications for products, services, and systems to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency and allow businesses to benefit from the knowledge and best practice from leading experts around the world, enabling businesses to enter new markets easily and become more competitive. The standards operate on seven principles, including continuous improvement. A continuous improvement is a management approach where the quality of goods or services is emphasized at all levels of the business and organization. It aims at the long-term development of high-quality products and services and involves all the processes and activities that contribute or detract from the quality and productivity of the organization as a whole. Nigerian products are facing challenges with being globally acceptable. These problems need to be addressed urgently to increase the competitiveness of Nigerian industries and businesses. Continuous improvement is explored in this paper as an approach for advanced quality management to motivate, communicate, and encourage effectiveness and productivity at all levels of the Nigerian economy. © 2021, Chinese Society for Quality.
