摘要：

Borges published the Manual de zoologia fantastica in 1957, a work illustrated with around twenty black and white drawings. This article studies the origin of these images, as well as the reasons which pushed Borges to choose them. It is shown that these reasons are closely linked to the writing method and the personal literary research of the writer.
