Investigation on Pressure Pulsation at the Inlet of Guide Vane in a Centrifugal Pump

In order to investigate the distribution and propagation of pressure pulsation at the inlet of the guide vane in a centrifugal pump and to further explore the Rotor-Stator Interaction (RSI) mechanism. The pressure pulsation signals at the inlet of two adjacent guide vanes in a nuclear grade centrifugal pump were obtained by experiment and analyzed. The results show that the diameter mode analysis method can be applied to predict the dominant components. The main frequency component is the blade passage frequency and its harmonics. The pressure pulsation transmits downward in these form along the direction of the impeller rotation. The flow at the inlet of guide vane is not uniform circumferentially as the characteristic frequency components and the maximum amplitude frequency differ at different points in the same guide vane flow channel. The pressure pulsation is highly correlated at the blade passage frequency and its harmonics. As the flow rate increases until the design condition, the energy gradually concentrates to the blade passage frequency and its harmonics. These results can provide some meaningful reference to decrease pressure pulsations in the nuclear grade centrifugal pump. © 2020, Science Press. All right reserved.
