摘要
In this paper, the oil-filled styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer (O-SEBS) was blended with polypropylene (PP) at the mass ratio of 2:1 and the thermoplastic elastomer material (TPE) was obtained. The dimethyl melamine pyrophosphate (DMPy) and aluminum diethylphosphinate (AlPi) with excellent water resistance were incorporated into TPE materials, and the fire resistance and water resistance of composites were investigated. The TPE/DMPy/AlPi composites achieve UL-94 V-0 rating during vertical burning test and the limited oxygen index is 27.2% when the total loading amount of DMPy/AlPi is 38% at the mass ratio of 1:1. The samples still fulfill UL-94 V-0 rating after the water resistance test for 168 h, and the mass loss percentage is only 0.76 %. It is indicated that the prepared flame retardant TPE composites present superior water resistance. Besides, the results of cone calorimeter test reveal that the fire resistance of the TPE composites is slightly improved after water resistance test. © 2020, Editorial Board of Polymer Materials Science & Engineering.
