摘要
Objective: To investigate the predisposition of individuals to use cryptocurrencies. Background: The theoretical foundation was divided into two stages: a) Contextualization on the theme of cryptocurrencies. b) Use of the Theory of Planned Behavior to analyze which behavioral antecedents influence the intention to use cryptocurrencies by individuals. Method: The present research classifies as exploratory with a quantitative approach and, for the data collection, a questionnaire was applied within 112 individuals. For the analysis and treatment of the data obtained, a structural equation modeling was used, which was performed by using the statistical analysis software SPSS AMOS (R). Results: The results indicated that the attitude has a positive relationship with the behavioral intention to use cryptocurrencies. Subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, in turn, showed a negative relationship with this same intention. Contributions: First, it was possible to increase the understanding of the determinants of cryptocurrency acceptance by users. Second, empirical support was provided for the effects of attitude on user intention to use cryptocurrencies. Finally, it was possible to investigate and test an existing theory of human behavior in a new context of Information Technology: that of cryptocurrencies.
