I spent the first nine years of my mining engineering career working at the Magma mine, during which time I experienced several collecting opportunities and interacted with miners, supervisors, engineers, and geologists who represented decades of the mine’s history. It was a great opportunity to learn about the mine and specimen finds from many who lived through it, including those who fought the stope fires in the late 1950s.
