Special features and recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma in children and adolescents

Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases and the most common chronic lung disease in children and adolescents. Although management appears simple in the majority of cases, a significant number of patients do not have complete asthma control, show impaired lung function, or suffer from (frequent/severe) exacerbations. To present the evidence-based findings on therapy and new drug options quickly and clearly for the daily treatment of children and adolescents with asthma, the most important recommendations for this patient group have been formulated in the new specialist guideline on asthma and are to be summarized and discussed here. © 2024 Dustri-Verlag Dr. Karl Feistle.
