摘要
Exo tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene (exo-THDCPD), a liquid hydrocarbon fuel with high energy density and calorific value, has the potential to improve the endurance performance of vehicle equipment as an alternative fuel for emergency use. To explore the performance of exo-THDCPD in terms of power, range extension and emission when used by diesel engine, a high density composite fuel was prepared through blending different volume fractions of exo-THDCPD (0, 20%, 40% and 60%) with No.0 diesel. Then an engine simulation bench test was conducted based on the testing and analysis of relevant physicochemical performance indicators, so as to investigate the effect of the high density composite fuel on the performance of diesel engine. Experimental results show that when the blending volume fraction of exo-THDCPD is less than 40%, the physicochemical performance of the high density composite fuel can well satisfy the technical requirements from alternative fuel for emergency use; when compared with No.0 diesel alone, the addition volume fraction of 20% and 40% exo-THDCPD in No.0 diesel can, achieve an average increase of 3.21% and 6.72% in engine power, 23.36% and 69.98% in HC emission, 48.28% and 76.67% in CO emission, 3.61% and 9.38% in NOxemission, as well as an average decrease of 1.72% and 3.78% in fuel consumption rate, respectively. © 2023 Science Press.
