Digitization is omnipresent today. Where new digital tools, apps and functions are eagerly used in private life, companies often have difficulties to implement digitization projects. This article examines the motives for digitization projects, their obstacles and the impact on the workload of employees. In connection with the basic principles of the continuous improvement process it tries to derive recommendations for a successful implementation for digitization projects. © 2023 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston, Germany.
