摘要
Photocatalysis is recently being used as a prominent method for degrading aquatic-harmful compounds, such as drugs, dyes, and other pollutants. This paper provides an update on the most recent developments concerning the integration of metal oxide composites into biomass-derived carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for photocatalytic degradation. In this composite system, we present a complete study of the most recent advances in the synthesis methodologies, characterization tools, and degradation mechanisms. This summary uses case studies and experimental data to demonstrate how well CQDs made from biomass can be held together by metal oxide composites, which can break down chemicals, dyes, and antibiotics that are dangerous to the environment. According to the study, CQDs made from biomass and metal oxide photocatalysts can support the efficiency of light in breaking down organic pollutants. In addition, the evaluation highlighted the degradation efficiency of the photocatalyst and its reusability. Furthermore, this composite has the potential to address current environmental concerns, as well as the impact of these discoveries on sustainable water treatment systems. The outlined correlations between the synthesis, structure, and performance will be extremely beneficial to researchers and industry professionals interested in leveraging the power of this innovative photocatalytic technique.
