Interfacial strength saturation due to local melting at bonding interface in ultrasonic welding of 7075 aluminum alloy to 316L stainless steel

摘要
This study elucidated the similar to 1-mu m precipitate layers of Al18Mg3Cr2 and Al-6(Cu, Fe) formed apart from the interface when the interfacial temperature is higher than 470 C-degrees during ultrasonic welding of steel/7075 Al alloy. The formation of continuous precipitate layers was induced by local melting, leading to strength saturation (2.75 kN).
