<正> By using electronic simulation method for determining the chromatographic elution curve, andfrom the conclusion of some previous authors' work. a general equation is obtained for materialmovements in partition chromatographic columns. This equation emphasizes the influences of thefeeding time, and the causes of unsymmetry of the elution curve and of the variation of the retentiontime. All these factors have not been given considerations by other workers before. Under various special conditions, the equation can be reduced into different results as obtainedby different workers. The calculated result of the equation is in agreement with that of the electronicsimulation method. Starting from this general equation, the authors have derived some rules for the peak widthat half height and of the variation of the retention time, which are of interest for chromatographicanalysis. These rules have been proved by the general equation, experiments, and electronic sim-ulation method. In obtaining rules for peak width at half height and of the variation of retention time, indiceshave been established to judge selectivity and ability of separation of the column, and selectionof operating conditions with these indices also discussed.
