摘要：

<正> For centuries, traditional Chinese medicine has been used in diagnosis and treatment of acute abdominal diseases in China. Through ages of practice, extensive clinical experience accumulated. Since 1958, the Chinese medical workers, responding to Chairman Mao's call, have studied the use of combined traditional Chinese and western medicine in treating acute abdominal diseases with encouraging results. Through the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, further progress has been witnessed in diagnosis as well as therapeutic results. Preliminary understanding of the mechanism and pharmacology concerned has also been obtained on the basis of experimental investigations.
