摘要
There have been greater changes in UK agriculture in the last ten years than in any other decade since farming began in this country. Many novel forms of crop and animal production have been advocated as the solution to surpluses of traditional products and to meet the demands of the increasingly powerful 'green' lobby. The list is long and includes many types of enterprise which, for a multiplicity of reasons, will not succeed, and a few which will stand the tests of climate and time. These will find a niche in the market place and will gradually be absorbed into the farming scene. Cashmere production is one of the more promising of the novel forms of animal enterprise currently being tested under commercial conditions.
